Writers Academy (Grade 5-6)

Geared towards students entering 5th - 6th grade

This common core-based writing academy puts an emphasis on sentence and paragraph structure. There will also be a focus on multi-paragraph essay structure. To achieve this, the teacher will also review grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary strategies. Emphasis will be placed on introducing a topic or text clearly, stating an opinion, and providing logically ordered reasons that are supported by facts and details. This course is a great way to strengthen students’ writing skills as they prepare for the next grade level.

Reminders: 
  • Please bring snack and water daily. 
  • Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes.
  • Please bring sweater/sweatshirt, classroom may get cold.
